Award Descriptions

Each year, BIAC recognizes those individuals and organizations demonstrating an outstanding contribution to our association and to the field of brain injury. Awards are made in the following categories:

The Education & Prevention Award
Awarded to an individual or organization whose outstanding effort has resulted in the increase of public awareness of brain injury and prevention and/or broadened community services available to individuals who have sustained a brain injury.

The Partnership Award
Awarded to an individual or organization for outstanding support of BIAC events and promotion of brain injury awareness and prevention in Connecticut’s communities.

The Advocacy Award 
Awarded to an individual or organization promoting community inclusion for persons who have sustained a brain injury.

The Public Policy Award
Awarded to an individual or organization supporting legislation/public policy that promotes the prevention or treatment of brain injury or increases the quality of life for persons who have sustained brain injury.

The Catherine Bontke Memorial Award
Awarded to a professional who has made a significant contribution to the field of brain injury through clinical services or research.

The Ayers Distinguished Service
Determined by the Board of Directors for service on the Board of Directors.

President’s Award 
Highest award of the agency; determined by the BIAC Board of Directors.

Community Service Award
Presented to those whose community service has furthered the cause of brain injury survivors, their families, and caregivers.

Media Award
Presented to those in the media whose efforts have furthered the cause of brain injury survivors, their families, and caregivers.

Volunteer of the Year
Awarded to an individual for outstanding service to BIAC through his or her volunteer efforts.

Advocate of the Year
Awarded to an individual for outstanding service to BIAC through his or her advocacy efforts.

Please limit submission information to one page and be sure to include your name and phone number. Call BIAC for nomination deadline.  Each nomination will be reviewed and winners selected by the BIAC Board Development Committee.
