Legacy Planning Information
The Brain Injury Association of Connecticut’s Living Legacy Planned Giving Campaign
Since 1982, BIAC has been a resource in recovery to Connecticut’s brain injury survivors, their families, and caregivers — and for almost as many years, we’ve also dedicated significant efforts toward increasing the community’s awareness and understanding of brain injury. Your gift to our Living Legacy Planned Giving Campaign “, which is tax deductible through our 501c3 corporation, The Brain Injury association of Connecticut, Inc., will ensure that this organization and its many services will be available to future generations now and for years to come — or until traumatic brain injuries cease to occur.
Our Campaign Goals
In order to ensure fulfillment of our mission, both now and in the future, The Brain Injury Association of Connecticut is committing to raising $3,000,000.
Why are we setting such a high goal? To become less dependent on state and federal resources. Only by protecting our programs and services from the ebb and flow of such resources can we ensure the viability of our many programs and services, all of which are vital to thousands of brain injury survivors, their families, and caregivers, as well as the residents of all ages statewide who benefit from our excellent outreach and education efforts.
Gifts of Appreciated Property
With careful planning, a charitable gift of long-term appreciated securities or real estate can create very favorable tax benefits for the donor — such as the elimination long-term capital gains tax payments or the benefit of an income tax charitable contribution deduction.
Bequests
Gifts through wills and bequests can provide a donor with the opportunity to honor and sustain the family name at BIAC.
Life Income/Charitable Trusts
Charitable trusts offer an opportunity to make a substantial gift to BIAC, Inc. without forfeiting the annual income produced by these assets, since the donor retains all income for his or her life and the life of his or her spouse. This gift can also be structured to create substantial tax advantages over a period of years.
Life Insurance
Life insurance can be used to accomplish planned charitable giving in two ways. An individual can transfer ownership of his or her existing policy to BIAC or an individual can purchase life insurance which names BIAC, Inc. as the beneficiary and/or owner.
Cash Donations
Most donations to the Brain Injury Association of Connecticut are considered cash donations and are received in the form of a check. When donating in this fashion, kindly make the check payable to BIAC.
Should a donor wish to contribute actual cash, please provide a return address and a receipt will be provided.
All such donations are tax deductible and should be sent directly to BIAC at 333 East River Drive Suite 106, East Hartford, CT 06108.
