Guida’s named Dairy of the Year

By Special to The Herald  3-30-2008

The All Star Dairy Association Inc., during its recent annual convention at the San Antonio Texas Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort, presented Guida’s Dairy with the 2008 All Star Dairy of the Year Award. Michael Guida, president and CEO of Guida’s, accepted the award on behalf of family and colleagues.

This award is given to an association member company that has set itself apart in areas of product quality, service, advertising, innovation and community service over the past year.

Additionally, Guida’s, a member of All Star since 1988, has supported the association’s efforts and contributed to its success during the past year.

An innovative leader in the dairy business, Guida’s has been family owned and operated for more than 120 years. It was the first dairy company in the nation to put pictures of missing children on its milk cartons.

Guida’s was also the first to add an inner foil seal to deter product tampering and ensure product freshness. This was done in 1986 around the time of the Tylenol scare.

Guida’s sponsors the CowParade fundraiser in West Hartford and the Brain Injury Association of Connecticut Golf Tournament.

All Star is an association of dairy, ice cream, water, beverage, food and packaging companies throughout the United States. Its 177 member companies represent more than 275 plants in 46 states, Puerto Rico and Nova Scotia as well as 24 affiliate members.

“Guida’s Dairy has been a great supporter of the association,” said Jeff Sterne, All Star’s executive director. “They continue to invest in the future with plant expansion and renovation, and are highly respected both in their local communities and within the industry.”

BIAC’s annual Walk For Thought would not be possible without the help of United Steel Corporation of East Hartford and its president, Ken Corneau.

2007 Walkers Put Their Best Foot Forward!

Congratulations to all those who participated in our annual Walk for Thought! From walkers to donors to volunteers, 2007's event was a huge success, with over 350 walkers participating and $60,000 raised to support BIAC programs and services. We also had 12 teams achieve "Elite Feet" status this year by raising over $500 each for our walk.

Thanks to all who participated in any way and mark your calendars for Saturday October 4th, 2008 for our next Walk for Thought!

BIAC’s annual Walk For Thought would not be possible without the help of United Steel Corporation of East Hartford and its president, Ken Corneau. As the loved one of two brain injury survivors, Mr. Corneau’s offered his full support to this very important event, and his personal involvement, as well as the involvement of his company as a whole, has been generous beyond words. We are truly grateful.
