Volunteer Opportunities

For over 30 years, the Brain Injury Alliance of Connecticut’s (BIAC) mission has been to be Connecticut’s partner in brain injury prevention and recovery.

Each year BIAC reaches over 6,500 Connecticut residents with prevention education, responds to approximately 3,000 annual requests for guidance and information regarding brain injury and oversees an average of 30 peer-to-peer support groups throughout the state.

You may be surprised to learn that we have a staff of just six. So, how do we do it? We get a lot of help from volunteers like YOU.

Our volunteers roll up their sleeves and help with all of our social events, fundraisers and health fairs. They also help us to secure donations, and help in the office. Each one does what his or her skills and time allows and each one makes a tremendous difference to a staff that always has more to do than hours in the day. As a small organization, even these seemingly effortless gestures have a big impact.

Some of the ways volunteers help us here at BIAC include:

  • Join an event committee
  • Volunteer at an event
  • Assist with general office tasks
  • Conduct prevention presentations for school children.
  • Staff a booth at a health fair
  • Become support group leader
  • Provide informal support to others with similar experiences as a peer mentor
