BIAC Support Groups
BIAC sponsors approximately 30 Support Groups throughout Connecticut — many of which are new, so be sure to click on the Support Group Bulletin Board link below! All provide information, support, and encouragement to survivors and their loved ones, along with a welcome array of recreational activities.
• Two are being offered for those whose lives have been altered by an acquired brain injury/stroke.
• Three groups are just for veterans with brain injury.
• There is a new Support Group for those who are working. (Click here for the flyer.)
• There is one for the spouses and "meaningful others" (life partners, boyfriends, girlfiends) of survivors. (Click here for the flyer.)
• We have a new "Twelve-Step" Support Group just starting for those with brain injury and addiction issues. Click here for the flyer!
• There is one at Mt. Sinai for caregivers.
• And one of the newer groups in New Hartford splits their meeting time, providing caregivers with an an opportunity to share information or to talk about concerns during the latter half of each meeting.
A Support Group schedule, soon to be updated, is available for reviewing or downloading by clicking here: Support Group Info. However, it is always a good idea to call before attending to confirm that the time and location listed has not changed — and to find out about the new Support Groups not yet on the list.
Meetings are held monthly, unless otherwise indicated, and family members and caregivers are welcome to attend, as well.
